Use positive affirmations to reprogram negative thoughts. For instance, instead of telling yourself, “I will never be happy,” think, “I am content at this moment”. Over time these affirmations will add up to a powerful collection of positive thoughts and mindsets. Not only will affirming the positive give you higher quality days, but more of them. A recent study by researchers at the Mayo Clinic found that people who think positively live 19% longer than people who do not.
Tell yourself something form this list several times per day. Focus on the words and how it feels to make positive statements about yourself. When you feel the urge to say, “This is stupid,” force yourself to replace that thought with one of the affirmations below.
