Don’t worry; it will be easy for chiropractors to justify their visit to Austin since it’s a work trip (can you say: Tax Deductible?), as you have the opportunity to attend Dr. Charles Ward’s Innate Legacy Practice Building Session from September 29 to October 1 this fall in Austin.
We’ll provide more details for this can’t-miss event at the end of this blog, but here are our 10 reasons every chiropractor should visit Austin!
1. It’s one of the friendliest cities in the country
From its eccentric slogan, Keep Austin Weird, to their signature warm Texas hospitality, Austin is one of the most inviting and friendly cities in the world.
2. The live music capital of the world
There are literally hundreds of live music venues and places to catch a great band or show on a nightly basis in Austin, establishing its reputation as the best place to see live music in the entire world.
3. It’s an athletic, fit city
Chiropractors will feel right at home in Austin since it’s one of the most active and healthiest cities in the country. It’s been ranked #1 the “least stressful city to live in” and most “energetic city” and The American College of Sports Medicine named Austin the #1 fittest city in Texas. Chiropractors are definitely respected and needed in Austin!
4. Cool off by taking a splash
To beat the Texas heat, take a lazy float down the river or visit the natural pools at Barton Springs.
This may be #1 for some people, because Austin is often ranked as the #1 city for great barbecue in the U.S.
6. Wild nightlife
6th Street, Rainey Street, the warehouse district, and many other pockets of Austin are loud, fun, and vibrant just about every night. When the sun goes down, Austinites come out to play!
Around the country, Austin may be best known for its music festivals, like Austin City Limits, SXSW (South by Southwest) and Fun Fun Fun Fest.
8. Food trucks
If you’re a foodie and still not full after all of that barbecue, check out a few of Austin’s amazing food trucks, including world famous Paul Qui’s, East Side Kings, Hey Cupcake!, a donut from Gordough’s or Kebabalicious.
9. A rich and interesting tradition with chiropractic
Austin and Texas have a fascinating history with the field of chiropractic. Education in the field of chiropractic started in 1908 when physician and chiropractor J. N. Stone established the Texas Chiropractic College, despite the fact that chiropractic practice wasn’t legally recognized in 1949 thanks in part to the legal defense fund set up by the Texas State Chiropractic Association. In fact, one Texas chiropractor was arrested sixty-six times between 1915 and 1943!
But by 1987 there were more than 1,600 chiropractors in Texas, and chiropractic has only grown and thrived in Austin and Texas since then. These days, Austin is the home to legendary chiropractic coach Dr. Charles Ward and his Innate Legacy team.
10. Austin and Texas are a hotbed of learning, including chiropractic schools
Austin is home to the iconic University of Texas, one of the largest and influential schools in the country. Texas State offers a degree in chiropractic, as does The Texas Chiropractic College operating in nearby Pasadena. In fact, Texas can boast of 25 different colleges or universities that offer chiropractic degree programs, such as Parker University in Dallas.
